Before you hand over your site
Real answers with real numbers, including the limits. Anything we cannot back, we do not claim.
What do I actually get, even on the cheapest plan?
Starter is $99 a month for one site. You get WordPress core, theme and plugin updates tested before they go live and rolled back if one breaks something. Malware scanning. Uptime monitoring on 60-second checks, 24/7. Scheduled off-site backups with one-click restore. A plain-English report every month. Free migration to get started. And the care SLA: if your site breaks, we fix it. Support is by email with a reply from a real person inside 48 hours.
What does it cost, and is that per site?
$99, $249 or $499 a month, and yes, that is per site. One plan covers one website. Two websites means two plans. There is no bulk allowance hiding in the fine print, so the number you see is the number you pay. Annual billing takes 17% off, which works out to roughly two months free.
Do I have to move hosts or change anything?
No. Stay on your current host. Up Speed is care for the site, not the server, so we work with whatever you are already on. If you do want to move, migration is free with any plan and we handle it. What we need from you is admin access. That is roughly the whole onboarding.
What happens when my site actually breaks?
Monitoring checks your site every 60 seconds, so in most cases we know before you do. Then a person looks at it, works out what went wrong, and fixes it. Plugin conflict, failed update, malware, a performance problem that appeared overnight: it is all in scope. If the fastest route back is a restore, we restore from the most recent backup.
How fast we get to you depends on your plan. Starter is an email reply within 48 hours. Professional is priority, within 24. Premium adds a 1-hour emergency response. On Starter or Professional you can also buy an emergency fix for a specific incident, from $199.
What is not included?
Three things, and we would rather say so now.
First, breakage you caused yourself. If you edit code directly or install something without telling us and it takes the site down, we will still help, but that work can be billable rather than covered.
Second, outages that are not ours to fix. If your domain registrar, your payment gateway or a paid API you rely on goes down, we can diagnose it and tell you exactly what happened, but we cannot fix someone else's platform.
Third, new work. Maintenance keeps what you have running. Building a new feature, a new page template or a custom plugin is development, billed at $120 an hour or quoted up front. We will always tell you which side of that line a request falls on before we start.
How often do you back up my site, and how long do you keep it?
Backups run on a schedule, roughly four times a month, and they are stored off-site rather than on the same server as your site. Retention is 30 days, so you can go back to any point inside that window. Restores are one click on our side. We test restores quarterly, because a backup nobody has ever restored is just a file.
The honest limit: a scheduled backup is not a continuous one. Work you publish between backups is not captured. If you are about to make big changes, tell us and we will take one first.
Do I get a dashboard or a login?
No, and that is on purpose. There is no dashboard for you to log into, no queue to check, no alerts to triage. Plenty of WordPress maintenance tools hand you a control panel and leave the work to you. We do the work and send you a report.
You stay informed two ways: a plain-English monthly report showing what was updated, scanned, backed up and fixed, and an email from a person when something needs your attention. If you want the panel experience, we are honestly the wrong service.
How do you handle updates without breaking my site?
Updates get tested before they go live, not pushed the moment WordPress offers them. If one causes a problem, we roll it back and work out a fix rather than leaving you with a broken page and a changelog. On Professional and Premium there is a staging environment, so bigger changes get tried on a copy of your site first.
We are not going to claim nothing ever slips. We will claim that when it does, fixing it is our job and it is already paid for.
What do I get every month?
A report in plain English, on every plan. What was updated, what the malware scan found, when backups ran, uptime for the period, and anything we fixed. No jargon, no 40-page PDF you will never open.
Professional adds performance detail: Google PageSpeed work, broken-link checks, blacklist monitoring and traffic figures rolled in. Premium adds a quarterly health review, where we go through the site properly and tell you what is coming rather than what already happened.
Why not just do this myself, or ask my web developer?
You can. Plenty of people do, right up until the month they forget. Doing it properly means testing updates on staging before they go live, reading plugin vulnerability disclosures, checking that backups actually restore, and being available when the site goes down at 11pm on a Saturday. That is a standing commitment, not a task.
Your developer is usually a better fit for building things than for watching them. Most charge by the hour and respond when they are free, which is fine for a new landing page and expensive for a plugin conflict. We are a fixed monthly cost that is already watching.
Do I own my site, my backups and my data?
Yes, all of it. Your site is yours, your domain stays in your name, your hosting account stays in your name, and your backups are yours to take with you. We do not hold your site hostage and we do not install proprietary plugins you have to keep paying for. If you leave, you get a clean export and there is nothing to unpick.
Can I cancel? And is there a trial?
Cancel whenever. No contract, no notice period, no exit fee. Monthly plans stop at the end of the current cycle. Annual plans are paid up front and that year is not refundable, but they never roll into a second year without you choosing to.
There is no free trial, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we do offer is a free site audit: we look at your actual site and send you what we find, including the things you can fix yourself without hiring us. No credit card.
Not on this list?
Send the question. You will get an answer from the person who runs Up Speed, not a form response. If the answer is no, you will get that too.
